Walk and Talk Your Way to Happiness
There's no doubt that fitness - physical and mental - is the key to
a long and happier life.
With this in mind, Jane Milton, fitness advocate and psychotherapist,
offers an exciting service to her clients - Walk and Talk.
A Sydney based businesswomen and Eastern Suburbs resident, Jane has
created a service that not only gets you fit while you take in some of
Sydney's most breathtaking views, it allows you to talk through your
problems or issues, and meet your challenges - with professional
support.
Recognising that for some people who suffer anxiety or depression related
symptoms, attending the gym or engaging a personal trainer just wasn't
appropriate, Jane wanted to find a way to help them manage and the Walk
and Talk service was born.
Walking is one of the best ways to exercise. Exercise has been
praised as an adjunct to therapy in the treatment of anxiety and depression. Recent
research supports the effectiveness of exercise in lessening depressive
symptoms. Exercise enhances mind functions and emotional states,
creates alertness and enhances creativity and sleep, all of which are
beneficial in handling the pressures of modern life.
"Some clients were responding slowly to traditional 'in the room' counselling,
Jane says and complaining about not having energy or time to exercise
yet desperately wanted to improve their fitness" This was when
I made the decision to combine the two and my clients have become fitter
and more able to manage any issues".
Clients walk and talk at their own pace. There is a fitness strategy
for each individual taking into account their fitness levels, general
health, history and age.
